Danganronpa 2x2 Hajime Hinata

The Hope's Peak trip's viewpoint character — still the person you will think as.

Last updated:

Hajime Hinata

Hajime Hinata is the student you occupy. In every trailer still, he stands in the white shirt and green tie, brown hair spiked, looking like he was late to a class photo. Danganronpa 2x2 has not replaced him with a new narrator. If you play Original or Slayhem, you are still walking Jabberwock Island in Hajime’s shoes.

English voice: Johnny Yong Bosch, returning from Goodbye Despair. Japanese voice in the original game was Minami Takayama; 2x2 has not advertised a recast in the same way it shouted about Monokuma’s new Japanese actor, so do not assume a change until the full JP credit roll is public.

Talent, or the lack of one

Hajime is the Ultimate ??? / Reserve Course kid in series lore: he wanted Hope’s Peak, he did not arrive as a titled genius, and the rest of the class can smell that. That insecurity is the point of his writing. He is the camera that asks the obvious question so the Ultimate Mechanic or Ultimate Princess can over-explain.

For a Class Trial, that means Hajime is the one holding the Truth Bullet gun. You are not picking Hajime in a party menu. You are Hajime. Builds and loadouts are the wrong metaphor. Notes, patience, and “does this alibi fit the 3D map?” are the right ones.

Why veterans should still re-read him

Returning players remember Hajime’s 2012 arc in painful detail. Slayhem’s pitch is that one incident rewrites who dies and who lies. Hajime still has to live with the class. He still has to vote. The temptation is to play him on autopilot because you “know” who he is. That is how you miss a new contradiction that only exists in the remake’s second campaign.

If you want the version of Hajime whose story you already cried over, boot Original. If you want him dropped into a new case list, boot Slayhem and refuse recap videos.

How he shows up in 2x2 press

  • Key art: front left, pointing, opposite Nagito.
  • Dialogue screenshots: often the silent listener while Nagito talks about Slayhem items or luck.
  • Trailers: the straight man in a tropical shirt-and-tie combo while Monokuma hogs the frame.

He is also the character whose investigation HUD you will stare at for 30–35 hours: chapter chip, time of day, the little reticle over a bolt plate in a cabin. When people say the remake “feels modern,” they mean Hajime’s walk around the island no longer looks like a PSP side-scroller.

Free Time, without a gift FAQ from 2012

We are not pasting the old coconut and file gift tables here. Item IDs may change, and Slayhem may shuffle who is even available in a given chapter. After launch this page will grow a spoiler-tagged Free Time section. Until then, the rule is series-classic: talk to Hajime’s classmates during the day, pick the person whose talent you do not understand, and accept that some of them will be rude.

Pair him with:

  • Chiaki Nanami — the classmate most likely to explain games to him (and to you).
  • Nagito Komaeda — the classmate most likely to derail a plan.
  • Cast roster — everyone else on the boat.
  • Watch list — where Hajime sits as “mandatory viewpoint,” not as a ranked fighter.

Spoiler wall

This page will not describe Hajime’s Original-mode revelations. They are the beating heart of the 2012 game and they are easy to ruin in one sentence. If you have not played Original and you are starting 2x2 as a newcomer, do not search his name with the word “talent.” Come back after credits.

Slayhem’s version of Hajime is unannounced beyond “same character, new incident.” We will not fanfic a personality rewrite.

When you have his face stuck in your head, go learn the Class Trial verbs you will fire on his behalf, then lock a platform so those 30 hours actually save.

Who voices Hajime in English?

Johnny Yong Bosch, announced with the rest of the returning cast in March 2026.

What is his Ultimate talent?

He is presented as the Reserve Course / Ultimate ??? student. Deeper Original-mode answers are spoiler-tagged after launch, not here.
